THE CREATION OF OUR TROPICAL PARADISE

Hola from Namaste!

We had a courtyard with 12 Coconut Trees and lots of cement.  Nothing could  be grown under the trees as falling coconuts are dangerous; and that was the only place there was no cement.

As a Gardener it was only a matter of time before we changed all that.

Down came the Coconut Trees

Paint the Walls and bring in the stone for the stone walls and arch

The BobCat hard at work
The stone walls are built; next the Mayan Arch
Putting the finishing touches on the Arch
and spreading the dirt.
The grass arrives... It is wide bladed and spreads by runners and comes in small pieces.

The grass is laid and now the cements paths are stamped while the  Polynesian palapa and pond are built.

IT'S FINISHED AND WONDERFUL

BEFORE
AFTER
All we need now is the wooden swing or 2 hammock chairs under the palapa

Water trickles down the mountain as our Mexican couple looks on... siesta time for the hombre! This week we will be adding water lilies, other water plants and some fish.
BAMBOO GARDEN..where they used our coconut tree trunks as a back drop for the sitting area. The tall plants closest to the casita are bamboo and the chairs are made of bamboo

GORD'S CACTUS GARDEN:  with a cactus carved out of the coconut tree truck!.. The one to the right is called a Pencil Cactus.. The next one to add  is a hairy cactus that attracts hummingbirds.

For my gardening friends the plantings are KING PALMS, QUEEN PALMS, ALEXANDER PALMS, PIGTAIL PALMS, BISMARK PALMS, CHUSAN PALMS, DWARF PALMETTOS, BOUGAINVILLIA, MOTHER-IN-LAWS TONGUE, OLEANDER, CACTUS AND BAMBOO

The Crew That Made It All Happen

Zeus and Ita love the cool grass... no more sand in their eyes!!!

Hugs from Namaste...our casa to yours

    1. I am so glad my friends in Castlegar are sharing the BLOG as I don't have all the garden club member emails anymore so it was special to hear from you Bev.. We are having fun creating and caring for our tropical courtyard while gardening year round. If you give your email address to whoever forwarded the BLOG they can send it to me so I can add you to my list.. In the meantime hope all is well and I know you are still busy with your own beautiful garden and grandchildren. Dorothy
